  1. Court case

Former developer sentenced for stealing players' in-game gold and items

A former Jagex developer hired in 2015 was given a three-year suspended prison sentence, 150 hours of unpaid work and 25 days of rehabilitation for using his access to take gold and items from Old School RuneScape players and resell them, with the haul reported at about $400,000. Jagex's support team first flagged missing items in 2018, and an internal investigation and sting led to his arrest in 2019.

Appeal tribunal upheld finding that it unfairly dismissed an artist who shared a salary document

An employment tribunal found Jagex unfairly and wrongfully dismissed a concept artist in 2017 for telling colleagues about a senior employee's salary he found on an office printer. The Employment Appeal Tribunal upheld those findings, saying the tribunal had found the decision substantively as well as procedurally unfair, but sent back the question of whether his compensation should be reduced.

Launched Old School RuneScape after a player vote

Jagex opened Old School RuneScape, a version of the game as it was in 2007, while players voted on how much development it should receive. Jagex has since put Old School content updates to player polls; its polling charter says a feature passes only with more than 70% yes votes.
