US court let class action over Royal Match coins and sales proceed
Janna Schudde filed a proposed class action against Dream Games in the US District Court for the Western District of Washington in August 2024, alleging that Royal Match, in which real-money coins are used to obtain lives to keep playing, violates Washington's gambling law, and that in-game 'time-limited' sales with countdown timers reappeared shortly after ending, in breach of the state's Consumer Protection Act. Dream Games argued that Royal Match is a puzzle game, not a gambling game. On 10 November 2025 Judge Ricardo S. Martinez denied Dream Games' motion to dismiss, finding the claims adequately pleaded; this was not a ruling on the merits. A similar case filed in California was transferred and consolidated with it in February 2026. The claims are allegations and the case was pending at last check.
